Thanks to a magnificent all-round display by 19-year-old Jamie Gibson 96* and 5-34, Easts defended their title and return to Auckland in April for another crack at the National Club Championship.
An incredible game it was with Easts in trouble from the start being 60-7 but then a 125 partnership between Jamie Gibson 96* and captain Lance Dry 32 led to the completion of the 50 overs scoring 222-8.
Karori started well after opener Luke Scully scored a brisk 83 and Tom Scully 44, but their chase was halted by Jamie Gibson, returning from a sharp opening spell along with Lance Dry (2-10 off eight) and this slammed the brakes on. Karori were dismissed for 191 in the 44th over, losing the last seven wickets for 53 runs.
Congratulations to - THE MIGHTY EASTS !!!
