Bad light stopped play and THE MIGHTY EASTS El Cheapo Cars have retained the Pearce Cup after being the top qualifier for the final in a drawn game.
In retaining the Pearce Cup, Easts won Wellington cricket’s major club cricket prize for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons and end season 2013-14 holding all three Wilkinson Insurance Brokers Cricket Wellington Premier club cricket trophies, the Pearce Cup, the Twenty20 Cup and the Ewen Chatfield One-Day competition title.
The Premier team now heads off to Auckland this week to contest the national One-Day club cricket championship. As well as the three Premier titles, Easts also end the season still holding the Cook Shield, a challenge Shield up for grabs at the holder’s home & away 2 day games. Easts’ Cook Shield reign has now spanned six seasons and 38 successful defences.
Premier Reserve team also won the Alan Issac Trophy for 2 day games.
Well done lads and all the best for Auckland!!!!!!
The Premier Team are the top qualifiers for the 2013/14 season Wilkinson Pearce Cup Final.
The 3 day final is to be played at the Basin Reserve from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th April 2014 so get out there to support Lance Dry and his Premier team to win the Wilkinson Pearce Cup for another year.
"Go the MIGHTY EASTS"
The Premier team has also continued to defend the Cook Shield for two day games, home and away, and can put that away for another season. Successful defenses now total 38 ( 6 years ).
According to my calculations the Easts Premier Reserves top the table by 3.53 points over Hutt District. The two teams meet in the last two dayer of the season starting this Saturday 22nd March at Kilbirnie 1.
THIS IS YOUR FINAL GUYS!!!
The winner of this game will win the PREMIER RESERVE CHAMPIONSHIP and the ALAN ISAAC TROPHY!!!
We want to put our best possible side on the park!!
All contenders for the FINAL team could demonstrate how keen they are to play in the FINAL by fronting up at practice on Wednesday 6pm!!
Cheers, Gordie
